You never hated your body until somebody else told you that your body wasn’t good enough.
Serena Williams, tennis player and winner of 23 grand slam single titles, shared, “Since I don’t look like every other girl, it takes a while to be okay with that. To be different. But different is good.”
Different IS good.
Body policing. Not good.
Body shaming. Not good.
And yet… we do it to ourselves. Even when we’re smart enough and compassionate enough to encourage other women to display their unique beauty, we return to our own nest and criticize ourselves.
My tummy’s too round.
My butt is too flat.
My hips are too wide.
My nose is too long.
My eyelashes are too short.
The list goes on and on.
So here’s a question for you!
What has your body done in the last week to support you? How has it shown you love, strength and/or support?
Hmmm… yes, let’s flip the focus on our body image.
