The importance of becoming your best self

Becoming my fullest potential

Some days we don’t get it.

We miss the importance of becoming our best selves.

Some days we criticize and judge. Others and ourselves.

We betray our bodies. We berate them instead of embracing them.

We let our negative thoughts spiral. Downward and downward.

We try to control. Everything.

Then the sun goes down, we lay our heavy head on the pillow, and we fight the Universe until we fitfully fall asleep.

We’re human.

And we need to forgive ourselves.

Now… start a new day.

You woke up with the beautiful opportunity to “get it” a little more today.

Take a deep breath and lean into becoming your highest and best Self.

Affirm yourself.
Praise others.
Thank your body.
Shift your thinking.
Let your shoulders drop.
Let go.
Smile.

Pema Chodron, an American Tibetan Buddhist, ordained nun, best-selling author and teacher, shares, “It’s also helpful to realize that this very body that we have, that’s sitting right here right now…with its aches and its pleasures…is exactly what we need to be fully human, fully awake, fully alive.”
