Nice isn't enough
Jan 28, 2025
Hey, there. AmyK here.
Just last week a coaching client’s comment got me thinking.
She said that she couldn’t figure out why their culture was eroding, especially since the leadership team was so nice.
Ah-ha!
And there you might just have it.
Being nice isn’t the same as being kind.
And kindness in leadership can be a superpower.
Why is this important?
Because kindness shapes culture. A leader who practices kindness creates a psychologically safe environment where people feel valued, heard, and empowered. This fosters trust, collaboration, and innovation—key drivers of a thriving organization.
Kindness also impacts the bottom line.
Studies show that employees who feel supported and respected are more engaged and productive, leading to reduced turnover and increased profitability. Contrast this with the “nice” leader who avoids tough conversations, lets issues fester, morale dip, and teams stagnate.
Kindness is a long game. It builds relationships, aligns teams, and fuels sustainable success. And right now, the world could use more kind-hearted leaders.
Watch the video below for a quick reminder on how kindness can ignite brilliance in your leadership.
I encourage you to lead with kindness—not as a soft skill, but as a powerful strategy for creating a culture that delivers results with heart.
From my heart to yours, hugs!
